How have mobile phones developed in recent years
It’s hard for many of us to imagine life without a mobile phone these days, even though smart phones as we know them only really emerged in the past five or so years. Yet they have become so integral to many of our lives that few people would choose to have a landline over a mobile phone. Which developments have made today’s mobile phones such a crucial piece of equipment?
Better cameras. While the first camera phones were available in the 1990s nobody was pretending that the quality was very good. Cameras on phones these days can create genuinely beautiful photographs. When you then add the ability to instantly upload a photo to Twitter or Facebook, and share what you’ve captured instantly, you can see why so many people love their mobile phone.
Other manufacturers soon started to rethink the way they made mobile phones. Physical keyboards were out and in their place were spacious touchscreens that allowed so much more to be done. While some mobile phones had tried selling themselves on the fact that they were super small, consumers were now looking for a screen on which they could stream YouTube videos or watch a movie they had downloaded.
But the number one development that has made life without a mobile phone not worth living has been the introduction of app stores. As well as turning your mobile phone into a gaming device, third party apps allow you to pay credit card bills easily, check yourself onto flights and instantly edit those awesome photos you’ve just taken.
In truth it’s a combination of all these things that have made mobile phones vital to our modern world. Our phones allow us to do so much more than just communicate with friends and family – they allow us to access the latest news, share our experiences and simply keep us entertained when we’ve got ten minutes to kill.
